For whom is this subsidy intended?

For Amsterdam-based artists, independent curators and programmers who have been working professionally for at least four years. The AFK has made a stipend available for this group: people who have already developed a defined artistic signature and gained work experience and who wish to further strengthen their professional artistic practice.

Applications for a stipend are subject to the following conditions. Applicants must:

  • be resident in the Municipality of Amsterdam;
  • have at least four years of proven professional activity in one or more areas of the arts, demonstrated by a portfolio that must accompany their application;
  • not be part of the 3Package Deal;
  • not be a student or participant in a post-graduate art course or any art course funded under the Higher Education and Research Act;
  • not have received a stipend, Development budget or 3Package Deal from the AFK in the 4 years prior to the application.

For what is this subsidy intended?

The stipend is a contribution towards an individual programme with a maximum duration of 1 year in the fields of development, research or experimentation. The aim of the stipend Is to allow artists and mediators the freedom to develop artistically outside of delineated audience-orientated projects. The development of business or communication skills may also be part of a plan to strengthen the professional practice and visibility of the maker or mediator.

How and when can I apply?

The stipend is part of the Project Subsidies for the Professional Arts Scheme. Applications can be submitted at any time. You will receive notification of our decision within 13 weeks. We look forward to receiving your application! You can submit your application via our digital application form, which you will find in My AFK. Please be sure to read the scheme and explanatory notes before you apply. This page gives a brief outline of the scope and what is and is not possible.
