For Untied Knots Mireille developed an installation in the kitchen of the building of Reneenee, which served as an orphanage kitchen for 300 years: Food Trap.
As soon as you take a seat at a dining table, you are caught in a power play. The multitude of unwritten rules makes this situation a minefield for those who cannot afford to make mistakes since they are in a position of dependency.
Feline Hjermind will exhibit her new video installation, Silence lay steadily against the wood and stone. Through animated images of vacant spaces Hjermind questions what type of architectural features are usually considered seductive and high-end, unsettling or spooky. The installation seeks to challenge these visual codes by striking the uncanny within the familiar.
Eefje Stenfert will showcase her new series of works, Airplane-mode, inspired by how the visual spaciousness of the sky can provoke peace of mind. Her tactile works center around play, mental health, the subconscious and nostalgia - evoking scenes of frozen movement in which fantasy and reality interlace. She aims to encourage a more relational understanding of ourselves and the world, whilst creating space for mystery and ambiguity.
