Projectsubsidies: categorie 4
Update May 7, 2026: Unfortunately, the budget for the first half of 2026 for professional art in categories 3 and 4 has been exhausted. There is a temporary suspension on applications until the end of June. Starting July 1, you can submit an application again. Click here for more information.
In this category, you can apply for a subsidy of €17,500 or more for an artistic project with a confirmed presentation in the municipality of Amsterdam. This means you already have a location and dates for an exhibition, performance or festival, for example.
Write a concrete plan with full details of both the project and the presentation. Also explain how this relates to other offerings in the city and how you can reach a substantially diverse and inclusive audience. Convince us of the feasibility of your plan.
Who is this subsidy intended for?
A foundation or association with its head office (and its statutory seat) in the municipality of Amsterdam can submit an application in this category. A legal entity acting as a principal can also apply for a subsidy for the realisation of visual art in public space.
How and when can you apply?
You must submit your application at mijn.afk.nl
If you do not yet have an account, you should create one first. Complete the online form and submit the following documents:
- A project plan of no more than fifteen pages.
- A budget including a financing plan, with one page of explanatory notes. Apply for the project as a whole, including the presentation associated with it. The AFK will contribute no more than 60% of the budget.
- Proof of your business address and postcode in the municipality of Amsterdam.
- A written confirmation of agreements with the presentation venue in the municipality of Amsterdam.
- Your track record over the past five years. In other words, a summary of what you have worked on or contributed to. Also include links to previous work, such as a portfolio or concert recording.
- Examples of what you will be working on, such as demos, text extracts or sketches.
- And, for visual art in a public space with a duration of more than six months, a positive recommendation from Stadscuratorium Amsterdam, or, in the case of a project integrated into a new building, a positive recommendation from the Spatial Quality Committee.
You can submit your application at any time during the year
Until the funds are exhausted and we can no longer grant a subsidy. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis as long as there is sufficient budget.
For categories 3 and 4, there are shared maximum budgets.
For the period from January through June 2026, the following applies:
Visual art in public space (BKOR): €263,500
Culture makers (excluding BKOR): €188,500
Professional arts (excluding BKOR): €2,196,500
If your subsidy application has been submitted together with all the necessary documents, the AFK will take a decision on your application and the subsidy amount within thirteen weeks. Please note that you cannot start your project until the end of the consideration period.
Tip
Read the explanatory notes carefully before starting your application.
